H.E. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo

Former Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria

Professor Yemi Osinbajo served as the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for two consecutive terms, from May 2015 to May 2023. He held the position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Nigeria, from 1999 to 2007, leading significant judicial reforms that would become models for other states in the Federation.

Before his political career, Professor Osinbajo was a Professor of Public law at the University of Lagos, a founding partner of Simmons Cooper, a prominent commercial law firm in Nigeria, and earned the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He served in the Justice Sector of the UN mission in Somalia, and was a member of the UN Secretary- General’s committee on Rules on the Conduct and discipline of Peace Keeping forces. He was Ethics advisor to the board of the AFDB, and served as an independent director of CITIBANK Nigeria.

In public service, Professor Osinbajo played key roles in the formulation and implementation of various government initiatives and policies, notably in the areas of economic reform, social investments, human Capital development, digital and creative economy, climate action and energy security in African nations.

He chaired the National Economic Council comprising governors of all the States of Nigeria, the Inter-Ministerial Energy Transition Implementation Working Group, which was responsible for the development and execution of the Nigeria Energy Transition Plan in 2022. Three National development plans were formulated and implemented under his leadership and he led the successful implementation of Nigeria’s Economic Sustainability Plan, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beyond his tenure in office, Professor Osinbajo remains dedicated to advocating for climate action globally. In 2023, he was appointed as Board Chair of the Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A) and as a member of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Council. He founded the North East Children’s Trust, for the creation of sustainable learning ecosystems for vulnerable children made orphans by the insurgency in North East Nigeria, co-founded Future Perspectives, an organisation focused on innovation, founded Climate Positive, an independent climate action not-for-profit, and serves as Guardian of the UNDP led Africa Innovation Foundation (timbuktoo). He is also an active member of the African Leaders Debt Relief Initiative (ALDRI) along with a number of former African Heads of State, committed to addressing the urgent challenges of the sovereign debt crisis gripping the African continent.

Ahunna Eziakonwa

UN Assistant-Secretary General

Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa is a global development leader and dedicated Afro-optimist who champions African agency, innovation, and leadership. As UNDP’s Regional Director for Africa, she oversees operations in 46 countries and manages a $1.2 billion development portfolio. She leads bold initiatives like timbuktoo, UNDP’s flagship effort to build Africa’s startup ecosystem, and the African Influencers for Development platform, mobilizing leading African voices for sustainable change. A steadfast advocate for youth and women, she spearheaded the Africa Facility to Support Women in Political Leadership and launched the African Young Women Leaders Fellowship Programme, empowering over 96 young African women across the UN system. Advancing resilience and inclusive governance, she established the Africa Facility for Inclusive Transitions to promote African-led transitions and national ownership, and shaped the UNDP Africa Borderlands Initiative and #IAMSAHEL campaign to tackle fragility through investment and resilience. She also drives economic transformation through Africa’s Money for Africa’s Development agenda and systemic reforms like the Credit Rating Initiative. She previously served as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Lesotho. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, she also holds a Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and has completed executive programs at the Harvard Kennedy School.

H.E. Wamkele Mene

Secretary-General of the African Continental Free
Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat

H.E. Wamkele Mene was elected by the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States & Government of the African Union, to the position of Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. 

Prior to being elected Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, he served as Chief Director: Africa Economic Relations, at the Department of Trade & Industry of South Africa. In this role, he was South Africa’s chief trade negotiator in the AfCFTA and Tripartite FTA negotiations. During his tenure as chief negotiator, South Africa ratified both the AfCFTA and Tripartite FTAs agreements. 

Prior to assuming this position, H.E. Wamkele Mene occupied the position of Director: International Trade Law & Investment Law at the Department of Trade & Industry, a role in which he was principal legal counsel on international trade law and international investment law. 

From 2010 until 2015, H.E. Wamkele Mene represented South Africa at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. He was elected to the position of Chairman of the WTO’s Committee on International Trade in Financial Services. 

Prior to joining the Department of Trade & Industry of South Africa, H.E. Wamkele Mene worked for Wall Street based law firms in the London and Hong Kong offices.

H.E. Wamkele Mene has written and lectured internationally on international trade law, international investment law and international business law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Law) degree from Rhodes University in South Africa, a Master of Arts in International Studies & Diplomacy (with specialization in International Economics) from the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London and a LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Banking Law & Financial Regulation from the Law Department of the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE).

Mossadeck Bally

Founder of the Azalaï Hotels Group,

Mr. Mossadeck Bally is the Founder of the Azalaï Hotels Group, a leading private hotel chain group in the West African Region. Born August 27, 1961 in Niger to Malian parents with a long tradition in commerce and trading,

Mr. Bally was raised in Niger and Mali, where he received his early education. He studied abroad, notably in France and in the United States where he improved his business knowledge by holding a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco, in California.

Mr. Bally commenced his foray into the African hospitality industry with an initial focus on his home country, Mali. In 1994 he established the special purpose vehicle, “Société Malienne de Promotion Hôtelière (SMPH)” to effect the acquisition of the first hotel of the future Azalaï Hotels Group through the State privatization of the mythical “Grand Hôtel de Bamako”. In 2000, he built on the strong reputation on the service quality and management of its premier hotel to build and open the Salam Hotel, and enter into a management agreement for Hotel Nord Sud, both based in Bamako.

In 2005, Mr. Bally consolidated the activities of the various properties under a common brand (“Azalaï Hotels”), and formally launched the Group’s expansion strategy in the WAEMU region. Under Mr. Bally’s leadership, the Azalaï Hotels Group expanded to Burkina Faso in 2004, to Guinea Bissau in 2007, to Benin in 2008 and more recently to Nouakchott, Abidjan and Dakar, with projects underway in Conakry, Niamey and Douala. From its humble origin, 25 years ago, Azalaï Hotels Group is today the first African private hotel chain group in the West African Region, providing direct employment to about 700 persons and over 2000 indirectly.

Mr. Bally, through the Azalaï Hotels Group strives to provide a positive and conquering vision for African Entrepreneurship.

Yemi Keri

Yemi Keri is a Chair and Non-Executive Director and award-winning commercially minded technologist with 23 years of experience in the Information Technology and Telecommunications industries serving in both the public and private sectors.

She is at the forefront of digital transformation to tackle business and social problems; recognized as one of the foremost women in Technology in Nigeria with demonstrable evidence of delivering innovative business solutions through technology.

Yemi Keri is the CEO Heckerbella Limited, a technology consultancy firm enabling African businesses build world class innovative anddisruptive solutions. She is also Co-Founder of Rising Tide Africa, a women’s movement initiated with a vision to increase women’s participation in Angel investing as an asset class and promote education, cross-border investing, and investor-mentoring across

Africa. She is the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Lagos Angel Network and serves on the Board of Africa Business Angel Network (ABAN) as well as the Investment Committee of Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF), managed by Acumen Capital Partners.

Yemi is a Board member of the First City Monument Bank Ltd (FCMB), Investment One Financial Services, the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce, Beyond Credit Limited, GAIA Africa, Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre and Chair of the Board of Directors,

She is a mentor to various digital and technology-enabled start-ups. Yemi is an Expert in Residence (EIR) at the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and a Facilitator on Corporate Governance and Digital Technology & Trends at the Pan- Atlantic University, Lagos.

She was honoured as Nigeria’s most outstanding Public Sector CIO at the ICT Centenary Awards in 2014

Fadilah Tchoumba is CEO at ABAN and the fund manager for Catalytic Africa, a matching fund for early stage startups in Africa. Before joining ABAN, Fadilah managed investment portfolios on behalf of institutional investors with interests in trade on the continent. She has worked as the Director of Business and Innovation across Africa for the Royal Commonwealth Society, one of the primary organs the of the Commonwealth where she steered and led the creation of innovative projects that aligned to the values of the Commonwealth. Fadilah is a founding member and senior analyst at Amzill, a data collection and analysis firm and she is also on the advisory board of ENRICH in Africa.

Lina Kacyem

Lina Kacyem is a professional with almost twenty years of working experience in various sectors of the financial industry: insurance, venture capital, development finance and consulting. She is currently an Investment Manager, leading investments in Francophone Africa at Launch Africa Ventures based between Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) and NYC (USA). She also co-launched the angel network Next Millennia Angels with the mission of investing in Africa to position the continent for exponential growth over the next millenia.

Before joining Launch Africa Ventures, Lina was the Managing Director of the Dakar Network Angels, where she facilitated angel investing in African startups, notably around Francophone Africa. Prior to that, she worked as a Consultant for ZS Associates in the pharmaceutical and tech spaces. She also worked in the development space at the DFC’s Mission Transaction Unit, as a Director handling the West and Francophone Africa portfolio where she completed two major transactions of $20M to facilitate lending towards African SMEs. In the Venture Capital space, she worked for Recast Capital, a fund investing in minority emerging fund managers; and for Global Ventures, a Dubai based VC firm investing in the MEA region. Mike Ogbalu III has more than eight years of sound IT industry experience in planning, deployment, and management of enterprise-wide infrastructure, as well as more than 15 years’ banking experience in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and E-Business. He managed the E-Business Group of Afribank (now Polaris Bank) and represented Afribank on the boards of Valucard Nigeria (now UPSL) and ATMC.

Iyin Aboyeji

Dele Badejo

A seasoned oilfield professional who has worked with Schlumberger, Transocean, Oando and OES Energy Services in many countries, occupying numerous roles over a career that spanned over three and a half decades. 

His wealth of operational and management experience gave him exposure to all classes and specifications of drilling rigs and associated oilfield services.  

He was appointed as the Managing Director of OES Energy Services Limited in 2011. Under his leadership, the company achieved significant milestones in operations, people development, and HSE.

He retired from active service in October 2023. He is currently pursuing his passion for mentoring young entrepreneurs.

Dele is passionate about corporate governance and serves on the board of several  companies.

Olatokunbo Ige

Mme Olatokunbo Ige is an international human rights lawyer, peace and security, development and disarmament expert with over 40 years of experience working across the spectrum of governmental, intergovernmental, nongovernmental, private sector and civil society entities,  primarily in Africa. 

A retired UN senior official now turned social entrepreneur, Mme IGE was  trained  by the John Maxwell (now Maxwell Leadership)Team, and is a certified  Leadership and personal development trainer, coach, mentor and human behavior consultant.

She practices through TI Consulting her leadership training and consulting outfit based in Togo. 

Mme Ige is the founder of The Livingstones Resource Center (TLRC ), that established the ECOVILLAGE an eco-friendly resort built with local materials where she brings to life her passion for healthy living as well as vision of adding value to others.

Mme Ige is also the founder of UTRADER, a waste transformation centre that seeks to alleviate the problem of domestic waste management by transforming used plastics, tyres, barrels and textile waste into quality products and promoting action on reducing, reusing and recycling of waste. 

In April 2023, Mme Ige  with a group of likeminded friends established Afrika Nunya an institute for policy and development. This African think tank focuses on issues related to sustainable development, in particular climate justice; youth empowerment; peace and security as well as the respect for human rights and the rule of law in Africa. 

In the framework of her personal and organizational capacity development work with entrepreneurs primarily in Togo; Mme IGE developed the concept of a practical accelerator for startups and scale ups known as The  Entrepreneurs Village Initiative (TEVI). In partnership with her TI Consulting she recently coordinated the coming together 98 Togolese startups and small entrepreneurs to create the first “indigenous products only” shopping centre in Togo. TOGOMALL was opened officially in November 2023 by the Togolese Prime Minister. 

Mme IGE  is a front-runner in developing strategic partnerships across and among different sectors of society, especially in building bridges between  governments, intergovernmental entities, private sector and civil society.

Rui Levy

Rui Levy is an experienced consultant specializing in private sector development and entrepreneurship, with over 20 years of experience in Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and Portugal. Dr. Ola Brown

Dr. Ola Brown is the General Partner at HealthCap Africa, an investment firm specializing in early-stage investments within the healthtech and fintech sectors, along with infrastructure investments. Cecilia Akintomide is an accomplished executive with expertise in Development Finance, Corporate Governance, Law, and Corporate Strategy.     

Cecilia is the Chairperson of the United Nations Sanitation and Hygiene Fund and Merciport Resources Ltd; and an Independent Director on the Boards of various organizations, including Parthian Partners; Dorman Long Engineering Ltd.; and Shell Nigeria Closed Pension Fund Administrator.  She is a member of the: Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria and the Board of Trustees of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library. Previously, Cecilia served as Adviser to the Group CEO of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, in Lome, Togo; independent director on the board of FBN Holdings Plc.; and in other senior roles including Vice President Secretary General of the African Development Bank (AfDB), as well as Head of Public and Private Sector Operations and Policy, in the General Counsel & Legal Services Department of the AfDB. Prior to AfDB, Cecilia practiced law in Lagos, Washington D.C., and New York, at the law firms of O. Thomas & Co.; Thompson & Co.; and Weil, Gotshal & Manges.  

Cecilia is an ardent champion of Girls and Women’s Economic Empowerment, and is passionate about corporate governance, the accelerated and sustainable development of African countries, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship.  She is a life member of WIMBIZ (Women in Management and Business and Public Service). Mrs. Lola Davies is the founder of Little Acorns Montessori in Bushey, Hertfordshire (UK) and Bencord Montessori in Gbagada, Lagos (Nigeria). Adedotun Sulaiman

Adedotun Sulaiman, MFR, pioneered and built his career in management and strategy consulting in Nigeria, dedicating over 30 years to the firm known variously throughout his tenure as Arthur Andersen & Co., Andersen Consulting, and Accenture—predecessor firms to today’s KPMG Professional Services and Verraki (soon to be rebranded Andersen Consulting) in Nigeria.

The breadth and depth of his professional experience and expertise was established through numerous transformational engagements spanning strategic planning, organizational strategy, human resource management and leadership development, business ethics, technology strategy, and process re-engineering mostly in the Financial Services, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Services sectors.

Mr. Sulaiman graduated from the University of Lagos in June 1975 with a First-Class Honors degree in Business Administration and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in May 1981. He completed the Program for Management Development (PMD 59) at Harvard Business School in 1990.

He retired in 2010 as Country Managing Director and Chairman of Accenture Nigeria. Since then, he has been actively engaged in angel and early-stage investing, venture capital, and private equity investing and investment management, acting as coach, mentor, adviser, hand-holder, and encourager to promising young entrepreneurs.

Mr. Sulaiman is also a committed advocate, advisor, and practitioner of good corporate governance. He currently serves on—or has previously served on and chaired—the boards of several companies and not-for-profit organizations, including Absa Nigeria (formerly Barclays Nigeria), SecureID Ltd, Interswitch Ltd, Parthian Partners Ltd, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Sundry Foods Ltd, Helios Towers Ltd, The Corona Schools Trust, Green springs Schools, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), Lagos Angel Network (LAN), African Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Nigeria (HBSAN), and the University of Lagos Advancement Board.

Mr. Sulaiman has also chaired or served on numerous committees, task forces and done several ad hoc assignments for the Nigerian government. Notably, he served as Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria from 2017 to 2021, during which he superintended the development and issuance of the Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance in 2018.
