It was an inspiring afternoon of innovation, impact, and insight, highlighting how African startups are building a more sustainable agricultural future.
With support from Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Start-ups (SAIS), this showcase was a powerful reminder of why local capital, tech-driven solutions, and committed founders are key to unlocking climate-smart agriculture across the continent.
Here’s a snapshot of the standout startups that took to the virtual stage:
STARTUP NO.1
Jodoor – Morocco
Presented by: Amine Derj, CEO & Co-founderJodoor is redefining sustainable agriculture through a network of eco-friendly franchised farms specializing in high-quality leafy vegetables and herbs. Free of pesticides and chemical residues, their produce is healthy, delicious, and consistent. Amine reminded us that sustainable farming isn’t a distant dream—it’s already happening, and it’s scalable. Their mission? To build inclusive, prosperous agricultural infrastructure for Africa and the Middle East.
STARTUP NO.2
Urban Greens – Uganda
Presented by: Peter Huisman, Managing DirectorUrban Greens is transforming city farming with IoT-connected aquaponics systems tailored for East Africa. But it doesn’t stop at the sale, their commitment includes ongoing maintenance and training, ensuring customers get the most from their systems. Peter showed us how tech and support combined can help urban farmers thrive while promoting food security and environmental sustainability.
STARTUP NO.3
LimaBot AI – Tanzania
Presented by: Godfrey Kilimwomeshi, FounderLimaBot AI is bridging the knowledge gap for smallholder farmers with an intuitive platform powered by AI and machine learning. With features like crop disease diagnosis, pesticide recommendations, soil health analysis, and real-time weather updates, LimaBot AI has already onboarded over 12,000 farmers in Kenya and Tanzania, and is preparing to expand into Uganda and Rwanda. Their work strongly aligns with SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), and 13 (Climate Action).
